Notes: Altogether 49 species of scale insects living on ornamental plants in greenhouses or dwellings have been found in Czech provinces. Systematically they belong to the following families: Ortheziidae (1 species), Monophlebidae (1), Pseudococcidae (10), Coccidae (7), Eriococcidae (2), Asterolecaniidae (2) and Diaspididae (26). All species are briefly described and most of them are illustrated, based on specimens from Czech greenhouses. Relation to plants, reproduction and distribution in Czech greenhouses are also given. Included are keys to superfamilies, families, genera and species, as well as photos of specimens. The use of insecticides against scale insects in the last twenty years caused serious modifications in the species composition of this fauna. Some species (Pericerya purchasi, Nipaecoccus nipae, Howardia biclavis, Ischnaspis logirostris, Mycetapsis personatus, etc.) entirely disappeared, some (Orthezia insignis, Coccus pseudohesperidum, Gymnaspis aechameae, etc.) have become rare. Many species survived insecticide applications, however, and reappeared in greenhouses. These include: Planococcus citri, Pseudococcus affinis, Coccus hesperidum, Parasaissetia oleae, Saissetia hemisphaerica, Aspidiotus nerii, Diaspis boisduvalii, Furchadaspis zamiae and Odonaspis greeni.
