The four species are Ceroplastes japonicus Green, C. rubens Maskell, C. ceriferus (Fabricus) and Dicyphococcus bigibbus Borchsenius. The results showed that the waxes' infrared spectra from the adult females of the three species in genus Ceroplastes may be arranged in one group due to their similar characters in spectra bands. It indicated their closer relationship in phylogenetic system. The waxes' infrared spectra from Dicyphococcus bigibbus may be ranked in other kind, due to its notable differences with that ones of the former 3 species in absorption peak strength, dense, number and form. Meanwhile, there were also obvious differences too between the infrared spectra of the waxes from younger nymphs (the I st and 2nd instars) and from adult females of Ceroplastes japonicus. Therefore, the infrared spectra of the waxes may be suggested to use as a new character in classification and systematics of scale insects. The chemical function groups and structures of the waxes also were inferred by infrared spectra.
