Wu, S.A. 2001a A new species of the genus Puto Signoret (Homoptera: Coccoidea). . Acta Zootaxonomica Sinica 26(3): 333-335
Notes: Adult male and female of Puto huangshanensis sp. nov. are described and illustrated in this paper. The type specimens are deposited in Insect Collection, Biological College, Beijing Forestry University. Puto huangshanensis sp. nov. ( Figs. 1,2) Adult female on slide oval, 3. 1??4. 2 mm long, 1. 9??2. 5 mm wide. Antennae 9-segmented, 1. 4 mm long, with apical segment long est . 16 or 17 pairs of cerarri, each w ith more than 10 conical setae and a group of trilocular pores on a sclerot ised plate. Two pairs of ostioles. Anal ring with 4 or 5 row s of pores and 6 setae. Legs develpoed, claw with a big denticle. Hind coxa without translucent pore, hind t rochanter w ith 3 sensory pores on its surface, tibia 3.7 times of tarsus. Circulus present in posterior area of sternite iii of abdomen. Trilocular pores scattered on both surfaces. Quinquelocular pores less in number, present in medial area of sternites iii of abdomen. Multilocular pores of 2 sizes, both distributed in venter. Tubular ducts of one size on dorsum, and of 3 sizes on venter. Dorsum with numerous, conical body setae. Adult male brown in living condition. On slide, body length 2.4 mm, greatest width at thorax 0.9 mm. Antennae 10-segmented, 2.7 mm long, each bearing numerous, long hairs except basal segment, apical segment also with 2 sensory hairs. Head with a row of 7 unicorneal eyes present on each side. Legs slender, trochanter with 4 sensoria on each surface; tibia/ tarsus 3.2; claw with pair of basal denticles, large denticle about 2/ 3 of distance from claw base to tip, and small denticle near tip. Mesothoracic wings each 3.2 mm long, with 2 weak veins. Hamulohal terae each with 2 apical hook hairs. Abdominal segment viii with a pair of tail-forming pore clusters, each with 2 long, central setae, with 6 loculi, rarely 5 loculi and tubular pores surrounding central setal bases. 4-loculi, rarely 3- or 5-loculi present both surfaces of abdomen and body near spiracles. Penial sheath as shown in Fig. 2. Holotype ( female, Anhui, Huangshan ( 30. 05+N, 118. 10+E ) , on Quercus sp. ( ? ) , 13 May 1999, WU San-An leg. ; paratypes 2 ( ( , 1 ) , same data as holotype, 2 ( ( , on a species of Gramineae( ?) , other data as holotype. Note: the hosts of this species are uncertain, because adult female and male were climbing on trunck of Quercus sp. and leaves and stem of grass when I collected them. This new species is similar to Puto subericola (Vayssiere, 1927) , but differs from the latter in new species with quinquelocular pores and mult ilocular pores of two sizes.
