Notes: [Conference held in Palermo - Erice - Bagheria, 28 May-1 June 1985.] Information is given on the taxonomy and food-plants of 11 species of scale insects in Italy from the families Margarodidae, Pseudococcidae and Coccidae. The species cited as causing economic damage were Matsucoccus pini on Pinus spp.; Puto superbus on various plants including Rubus sp.; Rhizoecus cacticans, Spilococcus cactearum and Vryburgia rimariae on succulent ornamental plants; Pseudococcus affinis and P. longispinus on ornamental greenhouse plants; Eriococcus araucariae on Araucaria spp.; and E. aceris on Acer campestre, which is a new record for Italy.
