Santa-CecĂlia, L.V.C., Bueno, V.H.P., & Prado, E. 2004 Development of the pineapple mealybug Dysmicoccus brevipes (Cockerell) (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) on two pineapple cultivars.. Ciencia e Agrotecnologia 28(5): 1015-1029.
Notes: The development of D. brevipes on pineapple cultivars Perola and Cayenne was studied at 25+/-1(deg)C, 70+/-10% relative humidity and one-day-old nymphs were kept inside a clipcage (1 cm diameter) with pineapple plants. The development of D. brevipes did not significantly vary among the cultivars. The development of females and males lasted for 39.9 and 32 days, respectively, on Perola, and 38.5 and 32.4 days, respectively, on Cayenne. Nymph survival was up to 32.3 and 40.5%, and female longevity reached 20.3 and 26.1 days on Perola and Cayenne, respectively.
