Salazar T., J.A. 1972 Contribución al conocimiento de los Pseudococcidae del Perú. [Contribution to knowledge of the Pseudococcidae of Peru.]. Revista Peruana de Entomología 15: 277-303.
Notes: [Sociedad Entomologica del Peru: Proceedings of the First Latin-American Congress of Entomology, Cuzco, Peru, 12-18th April 1971.: Anales del Primer Congreso Latinoamericano de Entomologia, Cusco, Peru, 12-18 de Abril 1971.] In the first part of this paper, the author describes or redescribes thirteen species of Pseudococcids from Peru (including Gossypina glauca gen. et sp. n. from cotton) and gives notes on their food-plants and world distribution. In the second, third and fourth parts, he gives notes on the bionomics, damage and natural enemies of those species of economic importance on cotton (Phenacoccus gossypii Tns. & Ckll., Pseudococcus neomaritimus Beardsley and G. glauca), on sugarcane (Saccharicoccus sacchari (Ckll.)) and on Citrus (Planococcus citri (Risso)), respectively. Remarkably good control of P. citri is afforded in some areas by Pauridia peregrina Timb., an Encyrtid parasite that is restricted to this host and was first observed in Peru in 1963. It appears to have been introduced accidentally.
