Petty, G.J. 1987 Control of mealybugs and scale on pineapples by methyl bromide fumigation of planting material.. Phytophylactica 19(3): 255-258.
Notes: The pseudococcids Dysmicoccus brevipes and Pseudococcus longispinus and the diaspidid Diaspis bromeliae were effectively controlled on Cayenne and Queen pineapples in South Africa by methyl bromide fumigation of the planting material at 32 or 40 g/m3 at 22.7-34.6°C and 20-25°C, respectively, for 2-8 h. Some degree of phytotoxicity occurred with exposure for 4 h or longer, but this was statistically significant only at fumigation for 8 h.
