Notes: The wax scale Ceroplastes ceriferus has be recorded in Italy in 2001. It was the first record of this species outdoors in Europe. Its biology and phenology have been studied outdoors from autumn 2001 to autumn 2003. The species develops one generation/year and overwinters as adult female. A list of the host plants recorded in Italy, where the species is established, is given. Because C. ceriferus could represent a threat for ornamental plants, and possibly fruit crops, for the EPPO Region, it was inclused in the EPPO Alert List in 2003.
