Notes: The coccinellid Hyperaspis trifurcata Schaeffer, predator of the wild cochineal scale Dactylopius opuntiae (Hemiptera: Dactylopiidae) was reported for the first time feeding on extrafloral nectaries of faba bean (Vicia faba L.) at Toluca, Estado de Mexico, Mexico. According to our knowledge H. trifurcata is the only member of the Hyperaspidini tribe that feeds on other food sources as extrafloral nectar, and we suggested that the inclusion of V. faba as a source of extrafloral nectar in O. ficus indica plantations could increase the survival and predatory capacity of H. trifurcata on D. opuntiae.
