  • Notes: Acanthococcus araucariae is an Australian felted scale living on Araucaria plants and has a worldwide distribution, mostly in warm and/or temperate climate countries, where it is often reported as a pest of ornamentals. Morphological studies were carried out to identify male and female instars and to provide a key for their identification. Life history and poorly known aspects of its behaviour were investigated. The scale has seven generations per year, and overwinters at the egg stage in the egg sac.
