Notes: The pseudococcid Oracella acuta showed an aggregated distribution in Pinus elliottii pine plantations. In the same canopy level, the population density of O. acuta did not differ significantly among the eastern, southern, western and northern shoots. The population density was highly significantly different among the three crown layers, (density in the upper layer > in the middle layer > in the lower layer). In a comparison of different sampling methods, the intersecting diagonal method was found to be the best and the Z-shaped method the next best. One hundred and fifty trees per ha were sampled.
