Notes: This paper presents a bioecological survey of coccids on ornamental and forest plants in Belgrade and some suburbs. The results are based on collections made during 1980 and 1981. The identified list of coccids totals 30 spp. belonging to six families; six species are new in Yugoslav literature (Acanthococcus aceris, Eulecanium tilia, Parthenolecanium fletcheri, P. pomeranicum, Carulaspis juniperi, Insulaspis juniperi). Information on English, German and Russian names of the Coccoidea group is given and new names of families and species in Serbian are proposed. Characteristics of families on the basis of female external morphological features and habitat are presented. Description of each species includes: scientific name, synonyms, common names in Russian and English as well as new Serbian names, host plants, external features of the females and habitat and localities in Belgrade. The most important pests with a high rate of infestation in some forest and ornamental trees and shrubs are Parthenolecanium corni, Pseudaulacaspis pentagona, Unaspis euonymi, Lepidosaphes ulmi, Quadraspidiotus spp., Partenolecanium pomeranicum, P. fletcheri and Sphaerolecanium prunastri. Phenacoccus aceris, Eulecanium tilia, Pulvinaria betulae and Palaeolecanium bituberculatum are controlled by parasites and are not dangerous to the plants.
