Notes: In November 2015, on the Northern slope of the Grosser Seeberg in Western Thuringia ovisacs of the Cottony Hydrangea Scale, Eupulvinaria hydrangeae (Steinweden, 1946), were found on fallen leaves of sycamore (maple). In June 2016, a subpopulation of adult females from this locality was studied with regard for density, body and ovisac measures and ovisac structure. Together with simultaneous records from the town of Erfurt, these are the first documented occurrences of this scale insect species in Thuringia. These records are discussed in the context of knowledge of this invasive species, probably introduced in the 1980s into the Rhine valley of Germany.
