Notes: A complete morphological description is given of Dactylopius ceylonicus, a beneficial insect which is a biological control agent for certain cacti, especially Opuntia, and is also used for making dyes. It is frequently found in northwestern Argentina. Descriptions and illustration of egg, female and male first-instar nymphs or crawler, female and male second-instar nymphs, prepupal, pupal, and female and male adults, are based on some important taxonomic feature, namely, setae, ducts, and types, quantity and location of pores.
