Notes: This list is intended to consolidate all authentic records of insect and mite pests that are major or minor pests of agriculture in Burma, are likely to become pests if new crops are grown or new practices are introduced, or are important pests in other countries but are rare or unimportant in Burma. For several species, these are the first published records for Burma. Common names (in English) are proposed for many species. The notes on species are intended to provide a broad indication of their economic importance and distribution within the country. About 400 species are listed, arranged alphabetically under their orders and families, and a species index is provided. The list includes Aonidiella aurantii, Aspidiotus destructor, Brevennia rehi, Cerococcus hibisci, Ceroplastes ceriferus, Chrysomphalus dictyospermi, C. aonidum, Coccus hesperidum, C. viridis, Ferrisia virgata, Icerya aegyptiaca, Insulaspis gloverii, Lepidosaphes beckii, Kerria lacca, Kiritshenkella sacchari, Maconellicoccus hirsutus, Orthezia insignis, Parlatoria pergandii, P. ziziphus, Pseudaonidia trilobitiformis, Planococcus citri, P. pacificus, Nipaecoccus viridis and Saissetia coffeae. Information on species includes synonyms, location of specimens and host plants, if known.
