Notes: [Conference held in Adelaide, South Australia from 6-10 Aug. 1990.] The successful control of common pest pear (Opuntia stricta var. stricta) by Dactylopius opuntiae on the East and West Lewis Islands, Dampier, within 2 years of release is reported. However, D. opuntiae failed to control O. stricta on the nearby mainland in Pilbara. Recent releases (1989) of D. opuntiae and Cactoblastis cactorum in Geraldton appear not to have become established.
