Chang, L.W.H., & Miller, C.E. 1996 . Pathway Risk Assessment: Pink mealybug from the Caribbean. Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture 61 pp.
Notes: Maconellicoccus hirsutus is a new mealybug in the Caribbean (US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Florida) threatens tropical and subtropical ornamentals, tree fruits, warm weather vegetables, grape and citrus if it also becomes established in the U.S. Pathways of risk are through stores on yachts and sports fishing boats, propagative material in air passenger and crew baggage, as well as similar places in cargo ships. An effective pest management tool is needed.
