Notes: A reappraisal of Metaphycus stanleyi Comp. (a parasite of scales, including Coccus hesperidum L. and Saissetia oleae (Ol.)) in California and South Africa led to a restricted interpretation of the species and the description of two new species. M. swirskii sp.n. is described from adults of both sexes from laboratory stocks parasitizing S. oleae in Israel and Crete (where it was bred for the biological control of S. oleae [see RAE/A 66, 2064, 2065; 67, 235) and other hosts in Kenya. M. neseri sp.n. is described from adults of both sexes parasitising S. nigrella King on Ficus natalensis in South Africa.
