Remarks
- Systematics: Generic characteristics that distinguish this genus from all other eriococcids are: the possession of large macrotubular ducts with sclerotized rim; anal lobes small or not protruding (Miller & González, 1975). Adult males of S. cerinus are similar to those of Carpochloroides viridis, also from the Neotropics. (Hodgson, 2020)
- Structure: The most distinvtive characters of the adult male are: 1) penial sheath short, only about 1.5x longer than basal width; 2) 10 segmented antennae, with setae slightly longer than width of segment; 3) presence of pores on head; 4) abdominal tergite VIII sclerotised. (Hodgson & Miller, 2010)
- General Remarks: Detailed descriptions and illustrations of adult female, adult male and pupa S. cerinus, see Miller & González, 1975.
