Remarks
- Systematics: The original description of Rhodania festucae was published in Georgian and was inaccessible for most coccidologists for many years. Fortunately, in the Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences there is a hand-written Russian translation of this description, prepared by Z.K. Hadzibejli herself. One of syntypes (collected in Georgia and written in Hadzibejli's handwriting as "1/2 of female"), is in reality a molting larva and has 6-segmented antennae and two sized quinquelocular pores; smaller ones - the same as in Rh. flava and larger ones - as in Rh. porifera. The second female from Georgia and written by Hadjibejli as "paratype" as well as females collected by A.N. Kiritshenko in Crimea and noted by Hadzibejli as syntypes have not any differences from usual females of Rh. porifera. (Danzig & Gavrilov-Zimin 2015).
- Structure: Body of live female pinkish, round or broadly oval. Antennae 7-segmented. Peritremes with several 5-locular pores each. Claw usually without a denticle. Anal ring with 20–25 small pores. Hind tibiae enlarged, with numerous translucent pores. Quinquelocular pores numerous on both body sides and forming together with tubular ducts broad bands on abdominal segments. Tubular ducts of two sizes; smaller ones present near spiracles and on cephalothorax only. Body of live male pink, with two short (approximately 2 times longer than aedeagus) wax filaments surpassing the apex of abdomen. Head with three pairs of simple eyes. Antennae 10-segmented; all antennal segments with flagellate setae; two apical segments with special sensorial setae of approximately the same size as hair-like setae. Two pairs of simple eyes of equal size present. Legs thin. Wings well developed. (Gavrilov, 2011)
- Biology: It occurs under leaf sheaths of Festuca sulcata. (Gavrilov, 2011) Life history and associated ants discussed by Kosztarab & Kozár (1988F).
- Economic Importance: Sometimes a pest on pastures (Ter-Grigorian, 1973).
- General Remarks: Good description and illustration of the adult female given by Schmutterer (1952), Ter-Grigorian (1973), Tereznikova (1975) and by Kosztarab & Kozár (1988F). Good description of the adult female given by Borchsenius (1949) and by Tang (1992). Good description and illustration of the junior synonym given by Hadzibejli (1959).
