Remarks
- Systematics: Saccharipulvinaria krugeri can be distinguished from Pulvinaria tenuivalvata by Williams 1982a mistakenly headed the section describing P. saccharia with the binomia P. sorghicola, the species described in the following section. (S. krugeri in parentheses): 3 spiracular setae per spiracular cleft (6); 1, median longitudinal band of paraopercular pores not reaching forward beyond abdomen (2 submedian, reaching to level with mouthparts); small, but robust, conical or lanceolate dorsal seta (minute, disc-like); tibia longer than tarsus (tarsus longer than tibia); claw with denticle (without denticle); anal opening more or less quadrate, outer margins angular (longer than wide, outer margins rounded); and not heavily sclerotised around anal opercula (heavily sclerotised). (Watson & Foldi, 2002)
- Structure: SEM micrographs of all instars by Azab et al. (2003). Body of adult female: very elongate, oval, narrow at both ends, 3.4–6.5 mm long, 1.5–2.5 mm wide. Derm membranous. Anal cleft rather shallow ranged from 0.70 to 0.74 mm in length. Stigmatic clefts poorly developed.
- Economic Importance: A major pest of sugarcane in Egypt (Ghabbour & Hodgson, 2002).
- General Remarks: Description and illustration of immature stages by Ghabbour & Hodgson (2002).
