Remarks
- Systematics: The nomenclature of this genus has been well-established in the Monophlebinae (see Morrison, 1928). It is most closely related to Monophleboides, however, further studies are required to define its generic characters.
Gavrilov-Zimin, 2018, resurrected the tribe Drosichini within the family Margarodidae to place the genus Palaeococcus in relation to other genera that he felt belonged in a subfamily of Monophlebinae (Drosicha , Drosidhoides, Matesovia, Palaeococcus and Sishania) In the same paper he moved this genus from the Monophlebini to the Drosichini based on his tribal concept and descriptions which he described as "incomplete," which "have the anal tube without any sclerotised ring or pores inside of anal tube."
- General Remarks: Definition and characters by Ferris (1919a), Morrison (1928) and by Kosztarab & Kozar (1988F).
