Remarks
- Systematics: Subfamily: Coccinae: Pulvinarini (Choi & Lee, 2019) Nipponpulvinaria horii differs from the "Pulvinaria group" in having ventral tubular ducts on the head, two types of ventral tubular ducts in the submarginal band and the ducts with a broad inner ductule mainly distributed in the submarginal band. (Tanaka, 2008) It is distinct from other Korean Pulvinariini species in that its legs do not have an articulatory sclerosis. Other South Korean species of the tribe have a tibio-tarsal articulatory sclerosis on their legs. (Choi & Lee, 2017)
- Structure: Colour photograph in Kawai (1980, figs 6.47, a,b,c). Body nearly round, broadest in abdomen. Dorsum whitish gray with dark spots, but sometimes dark gray or pinkish white with dark spots Mature adult females produce an ovisac from under the body, thus the completed ovisac does not cover the dorsum and pushes up the body. Ovisac white, sligtly convex. Eggs in ovisac mostly red to reddish brown. (Tanaka, 2008)
- General Remarks: Description and illustration of adult female by Kuwana (1902), Green (1921a and by Canard (1994). A good photograph of an ovisac-producing female was seen in Kawai (1980).
