Remarks
- Systematics: http://zoobank.org/8A2F9B4E-CBE5-4EF2-98C9-2092D9D193EB The multilocular pores of adult females resemble those observed in Protortonia quernea described by Williams & Gullan (2008), where each pore generally has a hollow center surrounded by 12 to 22 loculi. In females in the second larval stage, the unusual position of the pore at the base of the membranous external part of the atrium has also been observed in Paracoelostoma peruvianum (Foldi & Gullan, 2014).
- Structure: The living adult female is purple in color. Each female is included in a test. Each test has an external surface more or less brownish, with red and yellow spots distributed irregularly. The tests are individual, but with the increase in population, the new tests merge with older ones and form a large group of groups irregular on the twigs or an individual patchwork, each test completely isolates the adult female. To allow first instar nymphs to escape and settle on the host plant, the test has a small circular hole at one end. (Foldi, 2020) Slide mounted female broadly oval to subcircular (length 5.7-5.8 mm, width 4.7-4.8 mm). Immature Mapia kraussi have globular glands, which is a unique structure, from the morpho-anatomical point of view.(Foldi, 2020)
