Remarks
- Systematics: Foldi (1997) described a new genus and species, Jansenus burgeri from Thailand, with the adult female being very similar to Neogreenia species in sharing the following features: vulva opening longitudinally; each claw with more than one denticle; and abdominal spiracles numbering eight pairs, with the anteriormost six pairs developed and the posteriormost two pairs reduced; but Jansenus differs from Neogreenia in having reduced antennae.
Gavrilov-Zimin, 2018, resurrected the tribe Kuwaniini within the family Margarodidae to place the genus Jansenus in relation to other genera that he felt belonged in a subfamily of Xylococcinae (Jansenus, Kuwania, Neogreenia, and Neosteingelia)
Foldi (1997) originally placed Jansenus in the family Xylococcidae, but Gullan and Sjaarda (2001) and Wu and Nan (2012) considered it closer to Neosteingelia (currently placed in the Kuwaniidae). However, based on the new definition of family Qinococcidae, Zheng & Wu decided that Jansenus should be placed in the Qinococcidae.
- Structure: Main characteristics (adult female) of this genus are: elongate and flat body; derm fine and with few setae; antennae with one short article; short legs; one-segmented tarsus; tarsal claw with two denticles; dorsum with many cicatrices; eight pairs of abdominal segments; multilocular pores on dorsum and venter (Foldi, 1997a).
- General Remarks: Definition and characters by Foldi (1997a).
