Eriococcus chalazogamarum (Lindinger, 1933) (Eriococcidae: Eriococcus)Nomenclatural History
- Rhizococcus casuarinae Maskell 1893b: 230. Type data: AUSTRALIA: on Casuarina suberosa. Syntypes, female, Type depository: Auckland: New Zealand Arthropod Collection, Landcare Research, New Zealand; Washington: United States National Entomological Collection, U.S. National Museum of Natural History, District of Columbia, USA; homonym through subsequent combination (discovered by Lindin1933a, 108). - Nidularia chalazogamarum Lindinger 1933a: 108. replacement name Replacement name for Rhizococcus casuarinae Maskell 1893b
- Eriococcus casuarinae; Hoy 1963: 78. incorrect synonymy Notes: Lindinger (1933a) considered Gossyparia casuarinae Maskell, 1893 to be the senior homonym of Rhizococcus casuarinae Maskell, 1893 when he placed both species in Nidularia and proposed the new name Nidularia chalazogamarum as a replacement name for the latter. Hoy (1963) considered the species treated by Maskell as Rhizococcus casuarinae as the senior homonym which is incorrect.
- Nidularia chalazgamarum Lindinger, 1933; Hoy 1963: 101. misspelling of species epithet
- Acanthococcus casuarinae (Maskell, 1893); Miller & Gimpel 1996: 599. change of combination
- Acanthococcus casuarinae; Miller & Gimpel 1996: 599. incorrect synonymy Notes: Lindinger (1933a) considered Gossyparia casuarinae Maskell, 1893 to be the senior homonym of Rhizococcus casuarinae Maskell, 1893 when he placed both species in Nidularia and proposed the new name Nidularia chalazogamarum as a replacement name for the latter. Miller & Gimpel (1996) considered the species treated by Maskell as Rhizococcus casuarinae as the senior homonym which is incorrect.

Remarks
- Systematics: Lindinger (1933a) realized when he synonymized the genera Rhizococcus, Eriococcus and Gossyparia with Nidularia that the species Gossyparia casuarinae Maskell (1893b) and Rhizococcus casuarinae Maskell (1893b) would be homonyms. As the first reviser, he apparently proposed the replacement name Nidularia chalazogamarum for Rhizococcus casuarinae and maintained Nidularia casuarinae for what Maskell considered to be Gossyparia. This action is fairly obscure in the Lindinger (1933a) publication and Hoy (1963) incorrectly interpreted Nidularia chalazogamarum Lindinger as a junior synonym of Eriococcus mancus since Lindinger considered mancus to be a variety (=subspecies) of chalazogamarum.
- Structure: Adult female varies in color from yellow to dark red. First instar nymphs are red and flattish, elliptical. Male unknown (Maskell, 1892).
- General Remarks: Most detailed description by Maskell (1892). Type information by Deitz & Tocker (1980).
