Remarks
- Systematics: Intraspecific variation of taxonomic characters has been observed in this species. Koteja & Zak-Ogaza (1979) indicated differences between specimens from Poland and from Ukraine. Danzig (1997a) indicates intraspecific variation in taxonomic characters. The number of cerarii varies between 2 to 10, more often with 4-6 pairs; circulus usually is absent, but in some specimens it is present. Danzig & Gavrilov-Zimin, 2015 determined that the presence of a circulus in Dysmicoccus psoraleaewas not sufficient to separate the species from D. angustifrons and designated it a junior synonym.
- Structure: Pinkish or pale purplish in life (Danzig & Gavrilov-Zimin 2015). Body of slide-mounted adult female oval to broadly oval. Anal lobes not developed. Antennae each with 7 or 8 segments. Legs well developed; hind leg with translucent pores on femur and tibia; tarsal digitules pointed at tip and slightly longer than claw. Cerarii numbering 6 or 7 pairs, present on posterior abdominal segments only. The specimens described by Danzig & Gavrilov-Zimin (2015) differed from the Iranian specimens by lacking translucent pores on the hind femur and tibia. (Moghaddam & Watson, 2022)
- Biology: Dysmicoccus angustifrons is polyphagous and is known from many plant families although it is common on Asteraceae. It lives on all parts of the plant but more often on the roots, crowns (Kosztarab & Kozár, 1988, under T. multivorus) and leaves when the ovisacs appear. (Matile-Ferrero, et al., 2015) Biology of the polyphagous mealybug T.multivorus was studied in conditions of Turkmenia for the first time. (Myartseva & Kharchenko, 1987) established the number of bug's generations (3) and the structure of complex of parasites and insects of prey (12 species of insects from 3 orders and 5 families). Life history and associated ants discussed by Kosztarab & Kozár (1988F).
- Economic Importance: Reported as an pest in Turkmenistan (Myartseva & Kharchenko, 1987)
- General Remarks: Good description and illustration of the adult female given by Hall (1926a) and by Ezzat (1962a). Good description of the adult female given by Tang (1992). Good description and illustration of the adult female (of Pseudococcus lanatus) given by Balachowsky (1932a).
