Remarks
- Systematics: Anophococcus hellenicus differs from all the other species of Anophococcus (except A. pannonicus) by having only one enlarged seta on the margin of each segment. Anophococcus hellenicus is closest to A. pannonicus, but differs in having 7-segmented antennae (6-segmented in A. pannonicus) and in having blunt hairlike setae on the mid-abdominal segments (not blunt on A. pannonicus). (Szita, et al., 2017)
- Structure: Slide-mounted adult female: body oval, 2.49–2.72 mm long, 1.42–1.80 mm wide. Antennae each 7-segmented; segments each with a few hair-like setae; apical segment with apical seta 41–45 μm long, also with 3 flashy setae, longest 28–31 μm long; two preapical segments also each bearing 1 fleshy seta, on 5th segment 28–33 μm long, on 6th segment 28–31 μm long. Frontal lobe absent, frontal tubercle not seen. Eyes situated on venter near margin, each 26–29 μm wide. (Szita, et al., 2017)
- General Remarks: Detailed description and illustration in Szita, et al., 2017.
